Hide custom sign products displaying on your storefront

Products that are created by Sign Customiser are necessary for your customiser to purchase signs with their customized option. So it is not possible to have the app work without generating products. But, we understand that the auto-generated products should not be present on your storefront since they are customized products and suitable for the customer who created them only. In this guide, we will show you to hide the products from your storefront.

1. Create the "all" collection

To hide the auto-generated products from your storefront, you will need to create a new 'all' collection that excludes these products. By default, Shopify creates an 'all' collection that includes all of your store's available products. However, creating a new collection with the same name will overwrite the default collection and prevent the auto-generated products from appearing on your storefront.

1. From your Shopify dashboard, go to "Products" > "Collections" > "Create collection".

   

   
   

2. Set a collection title, and choose 'Automated' as the collection type.

   - Under 'Conditions', select 'Product must match: All conditions'.

   - choose 'Product type', 'is not equal to', and type in 'Custom Neon'.

   

   
   

3. Edit "Search engine listing" and make sure the URL handle option was set to "all" and click on "Save" to create the collection.

   

This will create a new 'all' collection that excludes the auto-generated products and prevent them from appearing on your storefront.

2. Exclude from your collections

The auto-generated products can appear in your automated collection if they fit the collections' conditions. For example, I have a "200 USD" collection that contains products that have a price is less than $200.

Custom Neon products that meet the collection's conditions will be added and appear on your storefront. To prevent this from happening, you need to change the conditions to ' Product must match: All conditions'. Then click on "Add another condition" and add the condition 'Product type', 'is not equal to': 'Custom Neon'.

3. Exclude from product recommendation

Some themes have recommended product sections that display complementary and related products to customers on your product pages. Unfortunately, it's not possible to change the recommended rules to exclude neon sign auto-generated products. However, you can use third-party apps like Shopify Search & Discovery to add complementary and related products manually. This way, you can ensure that only relevant products are displayed to your customers, without any auto-generated neon sign products cluttering up your storefront. Follow these steps:

1. Install the Shopify Search & Discovery on your store.

2. Open the app, and choose "Recommendation". On this page, you will see a list of all your products with their complementary and related products.

   

   
   

3. Search for products that have auto-generated products that appear as complementary and related products. Click on them to add recommendation products manually.

   

The manually added products will replace the automatically selected products in the recommendation section, effectively excluding the auto-generated products from being recommended to customers.
